1. Basic functions

1.1, Power on and off

[Q] Why isn't the dash cam turning off after the vehicle shuts down?

[A] All-electric vehicle powers the dash cam through cigarette lighter, not enabling the "Auto-off when stopped".​

Enable the "Auto-off when stopped" function and set an appropriate shutdown time.​

[Q] Can the dash cam be powered by a third-party power supply?

[A] Your dash cam requires a power input of 5V / 2A. Official power accessories of 70mai are recommended. If you prefer to use third party accessories, please make sure the specifications meet the requirements.​

1.2 Video recording

[Q] Why can't I find the option of 60fps?

[A] Because the dash cam is on a "low compression" setting.

 Please enter the setting page on 70mai App, change the setting to “high compression” and then you can see the 60 fps option.​

 Please note that if your phone doesn’t support HEVC decoding, it won’t be able to  playback the high compression recording video. This won’t be a problem for models coming out during the last four years. 70mai App will also automatically detect whether HEVC decoding is supported on your phone and provide recommended settings.​

[Q] Why can't I use HDR after enabling 60 fps?

[A] The implementation principle of HDR determines that the computation of applying both HDR & 30 fps is equal to what solely 60 fps would cost; if HDR & 60 fps are applied simultaneously, the dash cam won't be able to process that amount of computing, so they couldn’t be enabled at the same time. ​

[Q] What are the benefits of HDR?

[A] Your dash cam is equipped with a hardware-level HDR capability, which could greatly optimize the image quality of the following scenes:​

•
Driving in and out of the tunnel and underground garage during the day;​

•
Reading license plate at night when headlights shine directly to it;​

•
Driving where the sun is strong and the road surface is covered with shadows of objects.​

[Q] Why does this dash cam only meet the resolution of 1080P? Isn’t it outdated?​

[A] As a video recording device, resolution is not the only factor that determines image quality.​

Your dash cam recorded video is of high video rate, delicate image parameters, powerful master control, 70mai Night Owl Vision sensor, hardware HDR capability and high quality lens with a wide aperture, which leads to a strong detail resolution ability that color reality and complex light scene imaging is even more  superior. Moreover, the file size gets controlled. It could totally meet the needs of collecting proofs and recording and sharing your driving life.​

[Q] What is the 70mai Night Owl Vision of my dash cam exactly? What are the benefits?​

[A] Your dash cam is equipped with wide aperture lens and starlight night vision level image sensor. Its low light imaging ability is the top class in the industry. With imaging parameters specifically optimized for night driving and parking security scenes, when there is no street light at night, low light at parking spaces or underground garages, your dash cam could obtain outstanding image quality, making sure of the effect of image algorithm analysis and getting proofs.​

For starlight night vision dash cams, the definition of "low light" includes the following types of light sources:​

The fixed light source on roads other than the city street lights, such as roadside shop signs, the lights showing through the buildings' windows on roadsides;​

•
 Natural light sources at night, which is the moonlight and starlight at a clear night;​

•
 Mobile road light sources, such as the car lights in the side lane and the flashlight lights held by passing pedestrians.​

 In the area outside the lighting range of city street lights, with the low light source above, starlight night vision level dash cam can do better night imaging, while the ordinary dash cam can only record dead black.​

This is of great significance for the improvement of image quality for driving recordings and parking security in suburban and rural areas and parking spaces.​

1.3 Device album (in App)

[Q] When I playback recorded videos in the dash cam through the App, it works slowly. Why is this happening?​

[A] This is happening because the dash cam Wi-Fi signal is affected by the interference source. You can download the video to the local album in APP to solve this problem.​

 Note: It is recommended that you set the video recording time to 1 minute (the original section time of the video file). This could have the videos downloaded more quickly.​

[Q] When I download the videos and play them on my phone, the screen blacks out/ freezes.  Why is this happening?​

[A] This is happening because when the video has applied high compression mode, the phone might not be able to decode H.265 (HEVC) perfectly. High compression rate videos can be played on a newer phone model,such as an entry-level Android phone produced after 2018 or a higher performance Android device or an iPhone 7 or the latter iOS device.​

 If you do not plan to replace the phone at the moment, you can set the compression rate as "low compression" on the setting page on 70mai App, so that the subsequent recorded video can be played back normally by the old phone.​

[Q] Where are the videos / photos saved after being downloaded from the dash cam to the APP?​

[A] After video / photos are downloaded from the dash cam to the APP, they are saved in the "70mai" subdirectory under the album of the mobile system. You can access and manage these videos in the system album or the local album in 70mai APP.​
